While we look forward to the fast-paced action, cool cars, and lively dialogue of every James Bond film, we also eagerly await the Omega replica watches worn by the elite secret agent. Of course, the Rolex era of the early Bond films was always different, but over the past 25 years, the film franchise has built a strong tradition around the Omega Seamaster Diver 300m.
James Bond has worn the Omega Seamaster since 1995’s GoldenEye when Pierce Brosnan took on the role, and Daniel Craig will reprise the role in the 25th Bond film, No Time to Die, due out in early April, marking 15 years since he first received his license to kill. Omega uses each film to launch a new Seamaster Diver 300m, and the No Time to Die is one of the coolest 007 watches they make.
This 42mm watch is called the Seamaster Diver 300m 007 Edition and it combines a vintage look thanks to its markings and numbers in a close tropical copper green, with a technical edge thanks to the use of grade 2 titanium. The reference number is 210.90.42.20.01.001 and it was designed by Daniel Craig himself.
The first Seamaster 300M diver watch was released in 1993, and the early version seen in Brosnan’s Bond films has become a classic for 007 fans. While the watch remains faithful to the defining characteristics of the collection, there is a clear evolution in style. According to OMEGA, the new Seamaster Diver 300m 007 Edition “deliberately takes into account military needs” to bring a sense of authenticity to the action scenes in the movies.
The fake Rolex watch will come with a titanium mesh strap or a striped NATO strap in dark brown, gray, and beige, one of which is engraved with 007. Omega also says that a “special new dome” of the sapphire crystal makes this piece thinner than the standard Seamaster Diver 300M model. It has an aluminum dial with aged brown markers and hands with aged luminescence that match the numerals on the unidirectional aluminum bezel.
The case back is engraved with a series of numbers that “follow the format of a genuine military-issued watch”. There is “0552”, a naval designation, followed by “923 7697”, indicating a diver’s watch, and the letter “A” for a screw-down crown. Then comes “007”, which is self-explanatory, while the final number “62” refers to the year in which the first Bond film debuted.
OMEGA’s patented Naiad Lock caseback system ensures that the engraved parts are always perfectly aligned. The replica watch is powered by OMEGA’s Co-Axial Chronometer caliber 8806 and is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 meters/1000 feet). In addition, the brown fabric presentation pouch has a military touch. The Omega Seamaster Diver 300m 007 will be available to the public as a non-limited edition starting in February 2020, with an official retail price of $8,100 for the version with a strap and $9,200 for the version with a titanium mesh strap.” Craig said, “In working with Omega, we decided that a lightweight watch was key for a military man like 007.” I also suggested some vintage touches and colors that give the watch a unique edge. The final piece looks incredible.” We agree with that.
