Join ALS members on a natural history trip... travel near and far!

Learn about and enjoy littoral wildlife and its habitat. You don't have to be a scientist or experienced tripper to hook up for an adventure. A healthy curiosity and a willingness to walk off the beaten path are all you need. Trips range near and far, from half a day to two weeks. Most are appropriate for all ages, sizes, and skills.

Join the American Littoral Society on a spectacular wildlife safari to Tanzania, combining the adventure of a classic nineteenth century safari with the comfort and convenience of the finest classic lodges. Daily game drives will take you, via modern four wheel drive vehicles, into the most remote corners of Tangire National Park, famous as the territory of over 2,500 elephants and vast numbers of impala, zebra, and giraffe. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest caldera, home to highest known density of carnivores, including cheetah, leopard and lion. Spend time exploring the fabled Olduvai Gorge where anthropologists, Mary and Louis Leakey, discovered the extremely significant fossil remains of early hominids, including “Lucy” and the “Nutcracker Man.” View Nile crocodiles and herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle in the Serengeti, along with spectacular birds you’ve only dreamed about. Throughout our thirteen-day adventure, you will be in the capable hands of our own energetic and knowledgeable tour guide, Mickey Maxwell Cohen, on his fourth East Africa exploration, along with extensively trained and certified local guides and drivers.
