Jamaica Bay Sunset Cruise
June 2 and June 16
Leave Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn at 5 PM on the Dorothy B VIII for a 3-hour tour. Learn the history and ecology of the 9,000 acre Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, a part of Gateway National Recreation Area. See nesting peregrine falcon, osprey, oystercatcher, egrets, ibis and many other species. Cost: $45 includes narrated tour, wine & cheese, fruit, and other snacks. Fire Island Workshop

ALS joins the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) on Fire Island for the 12th annual mid-week conservation workshop at AMC's retreat on the beach at Atlantique. Hike the beach, seine for near-shore critters, stargaze and canoe/kayak on Great South Bay, all the while engaging in stimulating discussions with marine educator Mickey Cohen. Montauk Weekend

Explore the beaches and bluffs of Montauk during peak orchid, beach rose and heather blossom time. Activities include hiking, birding, seining, and an optional whale watch. See butterflies, tide pools, rocky cliffs, and Montauk Light. Cape Ann Whale Watch

Gloucester, MA, and surrounding areas are filled with beautiful shorelines and bays teeming with bird life.
